BURKE HISTORICAL SOCIETY MINI-MUSEUM
The Burke Historical Society Mini-Museum was established about 1993 and located in the "remains" of the first Burke RR station on the Orange and Alexandria RR. It was located at the corner of Burke Rd. and Old Burke Lake Rd. in Burke, Virginia. The Mini-Museum was disassembled in 2017. (GPS 38.793541 -77.271380) Several people were major entities in its creation, population and life. Among these were: Tom Bland - established the Burke Mini-Museum. Susanne Fowler - established the Burke Mini-Museum Fred Kielsgard - major contributor of artifacts John Jackson - major contributor of artifacts. Rudy Shields - provided "housing" of the Mini-Museum for 1993 until 2017. There are more references and information concerning each of the above in particularly the Graphic and Written area. This website presents items in the Burke Historical Society Mini-Museum as of January 2017. This documentation and presentation was yet another project of Fairfax County historian, Mary Lipsey. Photographic and website support was provide by Jim Hawkins. In January 2017 the Mini-Museum was housed in the old RR station as renovated and moved and owned by Rudy Shields, a State Farm Insurance agent.
